A South Georgia Fish Fry!

Needless to say, I'm waaaaay behind on my blogging!  We've had quite a bit going on over here and I'm just now getting back to posting!  I've been itching to share a fun time we had with my family down in South Ga at the family farm a few months back.

We had a good, old fashioned, catch 'em, cook 'em, clean 'em, and eat 'em fish fry!  I did this many times as a kid and experiencing this again in my adulthood brought back so many special memories.  I adore being able to share this with my husband and my child and build all new memories there. We always fish down at the farm but we just haven't done the for-real-deal fish fry in ages.  It.was.fun!

First things first.  We got started with some serious fishing!

My big boy sure does like to fish!  Just like his daddy and his grandpa (or "bugga" as Brooks calls my dad!)  So sweet.

We headed back to my Grandma's house to clean and cook the fish, like we did in the good ole days!  No doubt my grandparents were looking down from heaven with a smile!

I was in charge of the tablescape, which I LOVED doing, of course!!  I went with a southern fishing theme complete with a checkered patterned tablecloth, burlap cutlery baggies, plastic corks and mason jars!

My daddy and Dylan cleaned the fish and Jenny pitched in on helping them with the fryer!  Though, she mostly had her hands full chasing after my little one!  My Aunt Bobbie seasoned and breaded the fish and made some amazing coleslaw!!  Mama and I fried up some hush puppies that were simply divine! Recipe for the hush puppies I found {HERE}

We served cheese grits and sliced tomato along with the coleslaw, fish and hush puppies.  Aaaa-mazing!!

We will, no doubt, keep up this fun tradition alive for years to come! Soul food and family.  Two of my absolute favorite things. :)
